Dunedin is located just west of Tampa and just north of Clearwater in Pinellas County near the Gulf of Mexico. A lovely mid-size community, Dunedin celebrates its Scottish heritage each spring with the Highland Games and Festival. Visitors from around the world come here each year to participate in the festivities and games, culinary delights and other activities. As part of Pinellas County, which is a small peninsula that extends into the Gulf of Mexico, the town of Dunedin offers an abundance of outdoor recreational activities. Fishing, boating, sailing, swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving are a part of everyday life here. Championship golf courses and tennis courts are open year round. The town of Dunedin is right on the Pinellas Trail, a 47-mile walking, biking and rollerblading trail that runs through the entire county. Five miles of gorgeous coastline can be found in Dunedin, and the shell-strewn beaches of Caladesi Island State Park and Honeymoon Island State Park are nearby. Local parks provide a look into the area’s diverse ecosystem and are a good place for birding and wildlife viewing. Other nearby attractions to Dunedin include Clearwater Beach, Busch Gardens and the antique shops of Tarpon Springs.

Temperate and mild,  the central West Coast of Florida in the Clearwater/St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay area enjoys a semi tropical climate with warm Gulf breezes and plenty of sunshine. Frequent thunderstorms, short in duration, dominate the summertime weather patterns, where humidity usually hovers near the 100 percent mark. Even with these frequent summer storms, however, this area of the state enjoys the most days of sunshine per year - with an average of 361. June through September are the wettest months, with the rest of the year being pretty dry by comparison. The most pleasant weather is found during the winter months between November and March when the humidity becomes more bearable and winds from the Bay and Gulf keep temperatures moderate.
